Robbie the Robot from the 1956 movie "Forbidden Planet"

The project was to redesign the movie poster. This is not finished, gimme crits.

The full size file is over 12,000 pixels tall. O___o

[EDIT] I pushed the moons back even further and brought Robbie into the focus...

Nah, I'm not a painter or much of a visual artist so anything I could say would be pretty lame.

Your opinion is still valuable, you will notice things that other's can't...

I think you need more solid form in the background objects like the saucer, etc. Your edges are really blurry, too, so sharpen those up. The color palette isnt bad, but you have two different light sources- and the moon wouldnt cast that strong of a light, anyway. Plus, everything is too saturated. Mute some of your colors and you'll have a better value structure.

Hope that helps.

Well, maybe move that one moon away from his antenna, just so the antenna has its own . . . what would you call it, point of reference or something. Know what I mean?

and I just got 3 people telling me to push the saucer back :\

I am going to try and mute the colors a little and define that amorphous shape in the background...

The antenna isn't important enough, I think...

ive not seen the movie but i like the feel of this so far...i didnt read your other crits but ill say what i can...i would mute down the red of that planet thing in the back there...pull some of the green sky and go over it w/ a transparent brush..would push it back some and make it not so much of a focal point...the perspective on the arm feels a bit off but maybe that was on purpose? or maybe im just blind and suck at life...haha! anyways so far so good ...like i said before...good feel ..for me :D
